Two-Lane Tidbit: Buckley Garage, Georgetown, CO

Georgetown, CO has a number of neat historical buildings, but one of our favorites is the former Buckley Garage. Housed in a building constructed in 1877 that originally had two stories (what happened to the top one seems to be lost to history), John Buckley bought the building in 1933 and operated a blacksmith shop and horseshoeing business. In keeping with the times, it evolved into a Dodge dealership, and finally, an auto repair shop and gas station, which was open until his son, Leroy, died in 2003. With our love of old gas stations, we think this building is particularly cool; but what makes it even better is that it makes an appearance in one of Jen’s favorite movies from the 90s, Switchback.
