Along Texas’ FM-170, also known as the River Roa Along Texas’ FM-170, also known as the River Road, you'll find one of the most remote rest areas in the country. Sitting on the banks of the Rio Grande, just feet across the river from Mexico, the teepees were constructed in the 1960s during an effort to design rest areas to reflect regional heritage. Unsurprisingly, it was empty when we stopped. #restareasofamerica #texastodo #tinsheets

Recently, we got off the road and onto the trail ( Recently, we got off the road and onto the trail (something we do much more frequently these days) in the Flat Tops Wilderness in Western Colorado. There is no shortage of trails in beautiful wilderness areas, but this one is extra special and something to add to your hiking bucket list (maybe).

Sitting at 11,800 feet in elevation, the Devil's Causeway is a "bridge" that connects two significant sections of the Flat Tops. While only 50 feet long, the trail is just three (very tiny) feet wide in some spots with sides that drop off 60-80 feet and another 600-800 feet to the valley floor just beyond those cliffs.

The views are stunning, and the crossing will get your heart racing, especially if you are afraid of heights. Don't let that fear deter you, though. Jen readily admits that she crossed twice on hands and knees, and it was well worth it! #dontlookdown #flattops #colorfulcolorado #tinsheets
