Sign Seeker: Ute Trail Motel, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO

The Ute Trail Motel in Hot Sulphur Springs, CO was built in 1957 and the sign is from around that era. Still open, the motel is just down the street from the town’s hot spring pools which were once used as a winter campsite for local Ute Indians. In 1864, the founder of the Rocky Mountain News, William Byers, purchased the springs with the intent of turning them into a resort. He went on to survey and plat the town, with it being officially incorporated in 1903.
